Andy Xhignesse Director

Andy has been enjoying time at the cottage on Grand lac des Cèdres for over 50 years and is seen in, on or beside the water for most of his free time. It is a place with many fond memories with family (four generations’ worth now) and friends. He is looking forward to working with the other board members to build on the great work of this organization to date!

Retired now, Andy spent his working career self-employed. His first venture was as the founder of a company that helped advocate for and spearhead the changes to regulations regarding the use of pesticides—all in hopes of reducing the impact on freshwater and human health. He was a participant in the University of Ottawa’s Institute of the Environment for many years in the early 2000s, investigating numerous environmental issues with a focus on climate change.

Andy is passionate about many things, but water is his number one (it’s thought that he might be part fish), and he’s often heard saying, “If there’s any magic in the world, the magic is in water.” Think about it—ask him, if you like!
