Creation of hiking trails

The information we have gathered comes from historical Association reports and files that supported outside funding applications.
In 2004:
The objectives of the launch were defined. The hiking trail initiatives across the Cedar lakes watershed were undertaken to preserve and showcase local flora and fauna, and in so doing, enable activities such as hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing in the vicinity of Maniwaki. It was expected that the overall initiative would be of benefit to all residents and tourism-related enterprises within the region.
In 2005:
The Association concluded an agreement with the MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau (MRCVG) to begin the ecological development of seven square kilometres, consisting of municipal lots in the municipality of Messines. The Association launched over the summer upon receipt of $18,720 in funding from the Centre Local d’Emploi and $40,000 additional dollars of investment received from local organizations and volunteers. Detailed inventory, mapping and a baseline layout over a total distance of 23.5 kilometers was conducted.
In 2006:
The Association, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Messines, the Ministère des Resources Naturelle de la Faune (Pierre Corbeil), financial assistance of $40,000 from the Fond de Développement du Marché du Travail, Construction Toussaint (who prepared the required plans having a value of $3,500 at no charge), supported by a group of volunteers, completed a foot bridge over the stream linking Little Cedar Lake and Cedar Lake at no additional cost to the Association. In addition, a management and reforestation plan for optimal long-term regeneration was prepared by Association volunteers with expertise in the practice of controlling the growth, composition, health and quality of forests.
