Jean-Guy Carignan (1953-2020)

His wife, Donna, his daughter, Lindsay, and his two grandchildren, along with all his friends, wish to commemorate the memory of a man who held the lacs des Cèdres community close to his heart.
Born in Maniwaki on June 12, 1953, Jean-Guy passed away on May 4, 2020, at the age of 66. A local man from the very beginning, Jean-Guy spent his childhood creating cherished memories at Grand lac des Cèdres, where his maternal grandparents owned a cottage. Frequently, the family would gather there in large numbers on Sundays. It comes as no surprise that Jean-Guy had a profound connection to lacs des Cèdres.
Many years ago, he relocated with his family to Petit lac des Cèdres, where he quickly became an active participant in his new community. As a municipal inspector in Messines, he had a deep understanding of environmental issues. He served on the board of directors of the Association for the Protection of the Cedar Lakes for several years. In 2018, he was elected as a municipal councilor and represented his constituents admirably. However, it was his role as a volunteer that truly left an indelible mark. Jean-Guy was always there when help was required during the association's activities, whether it was distributing small trees, maintaining trails, managing beaver issues in Ruisseau des Cèdres, or eradicating Eurasian milfoil.
Moreover, Jean-Guy was an exceptional neighbour, always ready to extend a helping hand, offer sound advice, and, of course, share a good-humored jest. He had a deep appreciation for laughter and brightening people's days. It is safe to say that he cared not only about the well-being of our lakes but also the happiness of his neighbours. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
