Yellow Buoys are installed around Eurasian milfoil beds at Petit lac des Cèdres to prevent watercraft from disturbing and spreading the milfoil.

As part of the pilot project for control of Eurasian milfoil,  the APLC made an inventory of sites where Eurasian watermilfoil is present at Petit lac des Cèdres. To better identify these areas on the water, yellow buoys and explanatory signs were installed around them. The goal is to prevent motorboats or other watercraft from passing through these areas and breaking up the plants to transport fragments from one area to another.  To better identify these areas on the water, yellow buoys and explanatory signs have been installed to locate them. In a natural way, Eurasian milfoil breaks up into small stems and has the ability to establish itself all around the lake. In general, boats can also facilitate this spread by dragging the ends of their mooring lines which are attached to the motor or to the hull of the boats. The installation of buoys will therefore prevent the movement of boats in these specific areas and will limit the spread of the plant.
